Summaries provided in the formats you prefer!
Soundview Executive Book Summaries® is giving busy executives worldwide an
easy way to familiarize themselves with the key points of today's top business
books. A Carnegie-Mellon Study showed that readers retain more of the content
when they read a well-written summary than when they read the book. You will
too. Whether you subscribe or purchase individual online summaries, Soundview
will provide you with your own Online Library from which you can access your
summaries in variety of online formats. So whether you want to read your book
summaries on your notebook screen or your PDA, or listen to your summary on your
MP3 player, you'll enjoy complete flexibility to use as many of the electronic
formats as you wish, at no additional charge.
With the proliferation of electronic devices, busy executives need to be able
to access their book summaries in a variety of ways. We are committed to
providing the formats necessary to meet the viewing/listening requirements of
those various devices. Below is a list of our current formats. Scan the list to
see which ones will best meet your needs.
Whether you subscribe or purchase individual online summaries, you'll have your
own personal Online Library from which you can access your
summaries in any online format. You can view your summaries in as
many of the electronic formats as you wish, at no additional charge. If you
purchase digital audio summaries, these will appear in your Online Library as
well.
PDF - For
printing or viewing on a PC – this is the format of choice for most people,
because it looks exactly like our printed version. It’s also the format we
originally launched our electronic summaries in two years ago. This is a PDF
document for using with a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can print it
right from your Online Library or save it to your PC, using the options
available in Acrobat Reader.
PDB - For
viewing on Palm OS handhelds – this format is viewable in all PDA’s that use the
Palm Operating System, including Palm, Handspring, and Sony handheld devices. If
your device doesn’t already have a Palm Doc Reader installed, you will need to
download one. Free versions such as CSpotRun and the Palm Reader are available
for download online. As with all documents for your PDA, you use the same
procedures for saving the summary, and for transferring it to your handheld
device.
Microsoft
eBook (LIT) - For viewing on Pocket PCs – this is an LIT document, viewable in
Microsoft Reader. It can be used with most Pocket PC handhelds and with other
eBook readers. Among the handhelds using this software are Hewlett Packard’s
Jornada, Compaq’s iPAQ, and Casio’s Cassiopeia. As with the Palm handhelds, you
will need to follow the procedures established for your Pocket PC handheld for
saving and transferring the summaries to your device.
HTML - For
viewing in a Web browser – this is standard HTML format, read by most Web
browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. The
summaries can be viewed right in your browser window, and can be saved and
printed just like a web page. One advantage of this format is that many PDAs
also have Web browsers and can view this same format.
MP3 - For
listening to on your PC, Pocket PC, or MP3 player - this is the most common
digital audio format, and is easily transferable from your PC to a portable
player that accepts MP3 files. MP3 files can also be burned onto a CD, if you
have a recordable CD-ROM in your computer. This format is great for listening to
summaries in your car, while exercising, or while traveling by train, taxi or
airplane. For your convenience, we offer the MP3 files in both High Quality (96
kbps) and Standard Quality (40 kbps) formats. You can sample the quality by
